I needed to boot into Safe Mode, and at the login screen it displayed my name. I entered my Microsoft Account password, and received an “Incorrect Password” error message. I double, tripple checked that I entered it correctly, and even used the on-screen keyboard to enter it, and checked the value with the “eye” to verify it is correct. I even tried a blank password.

Then – using a different computer – I logged out of my Microsoft Account and then logged back in using the same password and of course it worked. Personally, I hate the way that MS is trying to push this type of account setup.

As for the pw, it is not random. You would have been prompted to create it during the initial setup but the PIN is so convenient that too many people forget the pw. If it was never setup then you should have no problems. This site in other languages x.
